I started making upcycled paper jewelry the summer of 2022. I was inspired by my daughter (4 years old at the time) who was turning all sorts of material around the house into "earrings". I ran some old cereal box cardboard through my Cricut and cut simple shapes that I then painted, just to see what I could do with the material. After some trial and error, I found that gluing two pieces of cut carboard together, then painting and sealing them, made for an almost wood-like material.
I started making earrings for myself and quickly became obsessed! When I work on a new design, I always think about the kind of earrings I would want to wear, and I end up keeping at least one of each new design for myself! :3
This year, I've started collecting old broken necklaces and earrings to use their parts for my earrings. My goal is to create beautiful jewelry from old things that would normally get thrown away.
